Forming in Atlanta in 2005, Attila set off on a mission to bring fun back to the metal scene and never looked back. Having to work against the odds every step of the way, the band quickly managed to gain national attention with their explosive energy on the stage, and their fearless attitude towards the opposition. With each release, the band tightened their grip on the throat of metalcore royalty, becoming an absolute monster in the heavy music world and beyond. After seeing many buzz bands come and go over the years, Attila continued to push their way uphill into a worldwide brand. POLAR
Getting older is just a fact of life. It’s something we all have to come to terms with, whether we like it or not. With age comes maturity and with maturity comes a new and, in a lot of ways, clearer outlook on life and the things that you care about. The same can be said when it comes to being in a band. When you realise that the music you once made doesn’t reflect who you are today, you need to take the reigns and make that change or be stuck in your old ways forever. This ethos has sat at the heart of the creation of ‘Nova’, the new album from London UK post-hardcore heads Polar.
“A nova is described as the brightest burning star and we felt that this album was going to be our brightest material” guitarist Fabian Lomas explains. “Before we wrote about things that we saw in the world and were passionate about. Some people even used to think that we were becoming a political band. This time the things we are writing about are much more personal to us. It’s a lot more rewarding. We all have different ups and downs in life and the band and we have such a perfect platform to deliver these feelings. We are touching on some very personal subjects that are close to our heart. As we have got older in life there are different things that happen to us. We have this forum where we can talk specifically about them and when certain people know that certain songs are about them it’s touching for them and rewarding for us.”
What has come before doesn’t matter because the future is all that is on Polar’s mind. With ambition at its absolute peak and with the strongest line-up they have ever had in tow, the only way is up and up and up and up. This is the most ferocious, varied and utterly compelling that Polar have ever sounded, and you would be a fool to not come along for the ride.

MONOSPHERE
„Und wenn man so stark debütiert, kann man sich nur vorstellen, wie der Nachfolger klingen wird.“ – so Cori Westbrook von knotfest. Mit dem erfolgreichen DIY-Release von „The Puppeteer“ haben sich Monosphere einen Namen in der deutschen Prog-Metal & Post-Metal Szene erspielt. Supportslots für Bands The Ocean, Rolo Tomassi und Imperial Triumphant fundamentieren diese Stellung. Nun melden sich Monosphere mit eniem neuen Album zurück. „Sentience“ greift dabei erneut einen konzeptionellen Ansatz auf und öffnet einen neuen narrativen Kosmos in den Sphären der Band.
Bereits 2015 machten sich Monosphere auf die Suche nach einem solchen Sound, der sich über die Releases der kommenden Jahre weiter formte. Bereits damals machten sie in ihrer Region auf sich Aufmerksam und spielten Konzerte als Support für Darkest Hour, Hypno5e und teilten sich oftmals die Bühne mit den befreundeten Unprocessed. Die frühen Metalcore-Wurzeln der Band wurden durch Post-Metal Elemente zunehmend verdrängt. Ein Reifeprozess, wie Songwriter Rodney Fuchs erzählt.
„Mit jedem Song bewegen wir uns weiter hin zu einem Sound, der versucht all unsere Einflüsse in einem Stil zu vereinen.“
Mit dem Drang einen vielseitigen Sound, der sich in seiner musikalischen Bandbreite stets erweitert, zu kreieren, liefert „Sentience“ das breiteste Spektrum das die Band bis heute offenbart hat. Zwischen technischem Progressive Metal und atmosphärischem Post-Metal sind es Elemente des Jazz, neoklassischer Klaviermusik, elektronische Elemente und bedrückendes Sounddesign, sowie Einflüsse aus dem Black Metal, Mathcore und Deathcore die den Sound der Band einzigartig werden lassen.
All diese Einflüsse werden von starken Narrativen begleitet, die Liveshows von Monosphere mit beeindruckender Lightshow zu einem mitreißenden Soundtrack werden lässt. Ein Soundtrack, der mitsamt enigmatischer Performance in seinen Bann zieht und auf starke Kontrastierungen zwischen schönen Melodien und rauen, dissonanten Klanglandschaften baut.
„Sentience“ wurde von der Initiative Musik unterstützt und erscheint voraussichtlich im Herbst 2023. Aktuell schreibt Songwriter Rodney Fuchs im Rahmen eines Popstipendiums der BV Pop bereits am dritten Album der Band.
